Dr. Lu Peihua Presents Breakthrough in CAR-T Therapy at the 29th APBMT Annual Meeting
From October 10th to 13th, 2024, the 29th Asia-Pacific Blood and Marrow Transplantation (APBMT) Annual Meeting took place at Singapore General Hospital, under the theme “Harnessing the Immune System.” As a leading expert from China, Dr. Lu Peihua was invited to deliver a keynote presentation, demonstrating the remarkable achievements of her team in the clinical translation and application of CAR-T cell therapies, particularly in the treatment of blood malignancies.
Founded in 1990, APBMT is one of the most important conferences for hematology and bone marrow transplantation in the Asia-Pacific region. With members from 22 countries, it serves as a collaborative platform for sharing cutting-edge research and clinical developments in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies.
In her presentation titled "Real-world Data of Academic CAR-T Therapies in China," Dr. Lu highlighted the successful clinical outcomes achieved with CD7 CAR-T therapy for patients with relapsed or refractory blood cancers. Many patients, who had few options left, achieved complete remission with CAR-T treatment, and for some, further combination therapies such as bone marrow transplantation provided long-term remission and even the potential for cure.

Dr. Lu’s presentation garnered significant attention, with several experts expressing strong interest in collaborating. After the presentation, physicians from Singapore General Hospital exchanged contact information with Dr. Lu, exploring future partnerships. They were particularly impressed by the promising treatment outcomes achieved by her team and expressed interest in referring patients to China for advanced CAR-T treatment.
As one of the leading institutions in the Asia-Pacific region, Singapore General Hospital provides a strong foundation for future collaborations in both research and clinical practice. Dr. Lu emphasized the importance of such partnerships in advancing hematology and bone marrow transplantation for the benefit of patients worldwide.
