    • Fully-matched and haploidentical (half-matched) allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, as well as autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
    • CAR-T cell immunotherapy, including post-transplant prophylactic CAR-T cell infusion and CAR-T treatment for relapsed/refractory hematologic malignancies
    • Targeted, individualized precision therapy for hematologic malignancies, and post-transplant relapse prevention and management systems

    Research Achievements

Dr. Zhao has led more than 10 provincial- and ministerial-level or higher research projects, including grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and key Tianjin municipal research programs. He has published over 140 papers, including more than 50 in SCI-indexed journals such as Blood, Leukemia, Haematologica, and Clinical Cancer Research, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 400. His team was among the first in China to report that post-transplant targeted combination regimens reduce relapse in high-risk myeloid malignancies, and that post-transplant prophylactic CAR-T infusion reduces relapse in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia — findings published in international journals including Leukemia.

    Transplantation Program & Case Volume

Under Dr. Zhao's leadership, the department performed its first sibling-matched allogeneic transplant in 2008, and in 2015 he spearheaded the launch of haploidentical (half-matched) transplantation, making the center one of the few in Tianjin with full qualification to perform haploidentical transplants. The department has since completed several hundred hematopoietic stem cell transplants in total, spanning autologous, fully-matched allogeneic, haploidentical, and third-party cord-blood-assisted transplants. Haploidentical transplantation — the department's core signature technique — had reached nearly 50 cases by 2019 and continues to expand in scale each year.
