Ocular melanoma (initially), followed by metastatic liver tumors-02

Patient: Ms. Y

Gender: Female
Age: 40

Nationality: Chinese

Diagnosis: Ocular melanoma (initially), followed by metastatic liver tumors

In 2021, Ms. Y suddenly noticed an abnormality in her right eye's vision. Comprehensive examinations revealed that she had ocular melanoma. Fortunately, it was detected early and classified as stage 1A, with only a 2% chance of metastasis. After undergoing radiotherapy, she was temporarily cancer-free, though the cost was permanent blindness in the affected eye.

However, unfortunately, the tumor returned the following year and began to progress rapidly. Imaging showed that her liver already had over ten tumors of varying sizes. Consequently, experts recommended that she participate in a TIL (tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte) clinical trial.

Ms. Y’s father and husband collected her medical records and contacted doctors across the country to find a suitable clinical trial, eventually finding our program. This method uses the body's immune cells to fight cancer.

The doctors surgically removed a portion of the tumor from Ms. Y’s liver, isolated killer T cells from it, and expanded them to a count of 10 to 150 billion, forming a clone cell army. This vast cell army was then infused back into her body to deliver precise, potent, and sustained attacks on the cancer cells.

The cultivation of TIL cells took about three weeks and required only one treatment session. In September 2023, Ms. Y underwent a week of chemotherapy, TIL infusion, and IL-2. This intense treatment caused severe side effects, including joint pain, respiratory distress, gastrointestinal symptoms, rash, and intense headaches.

However, after these side effects subsided, a miracle occurred. The TIL therapy proved highly effective. Within a year, almost all of Ms. Y’s tumors had disappeared or shrunk, leaving only one. In 2024, doctors removed nearly half of her liver, including the last tumor. Upon waking, she was told that there were no signs of disease left in her body.
