The Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University was founded in 1951 and is a tertiary Grade A comprehensive hospital directly under the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission. It covers an area of 240,000 square meters and has a bed capacity of 2,500. The hospital handles approximately 1.59 million outpatient visits annually, with around 64,000 discharges, 20,000 surgeries, and provides blood dialysis services to about 160,000 people per year. There are currently 53 clinical and medical technology departments, among which Urology and Nephrology are key medical disciplines in Jiangsu Province for the "14th Five-Year Plan," while Gastroenterology, Oncology, and Cardiovascular Surgery are designated units for key medical disciplines in Jiangsu Province for the "14th Five-Year Plan." Additionally, there are 14 provincial clinical key specialties, including Gastroenterology, Pediatrics, Nephrology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Geriatrics, Endocrinology, Oncology, Urology, Otorhinolaryngology, Cardiovascular Medicine, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Medical Imaging, and Respiratory Medicine.
