Huazhong University of Science and Technology Union Shenzhen Hospital is a tertiary Grade A comprehensive hospital established by the Nanshan District People's Government. The hospital currently has 1,482 authorized beds and is equipped to perform extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), robot-assisted surgery for cranial diseases (brain tumors and cerebral hemorrhages), laparoscopic fluorescence + intraoperative ultrasound-guided liver resection, percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD), malignant melanoma resection and sentinel lymph node clearance surgery, 3D printing technology for orthopedic appliances, 4D CT imaging technology for the throat, laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, and laparoscopic radical cystectomy. Additionally, the hospital has increased investment in the past three years and established research platforms, including the construction of a biosample bank and an animal experimental center in 2020 and the establishment of a Clinical Medicine Transformation Center focusing on stem cell research in 2021, equipped with research equipment such as laser confocal microscopes, patch clamp systems, high-throughput sequencers, and 3-D printers.
